American author Michael Hyatt shared in his blog the huge benefits that designing your ideal week can have for your productivity.
In brief, your ideal week is the week you would live if you could control 100% of your schedule. The kind of week that would maximize your productivity while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
Although many times it won’t be possible to follow your ideal week to the minute, having a compass that guides you through the week can make wonders for your productivity.
Let’s see how you can plan your ideal week with TimeTune:
CREATING A TEMPLATE
One of the most powerful features in TimeTune is the ability to create templates. Templates are a perfect match for your ideal week.
You just need to create a 7-day template:
Once created, the template opens automatically and you can start planning your ideal week by adding time blocks:
You can use two tricks to design your template faster:
- Long-click on a block or group of blocks to copy them to other days.
- Use the ‘Copy day’ option from the top menu to copy a whole day to other days.
After adding time blocks to your template, it should look like this:
APPLYING THE TEMPLATE
You can apply your template on the ‘Template calendar’ section:
Templates in TimeTune can be applied to any date in the calendar. So for example, if ‘Day 1’ in your template was your Mondays, you would apply the template on a Monday (and make it repeat each Monday):
After applying the template, your template calendar should look like this:
And the corresponding schedule to each date will show up in the ‘Schedule’ section:
CHECKING YOUR TIME BUDGET
If we treat each week like a time budget, your ideal week is the plan on how you’re going to spend that budget.
TimeTune allows you to see your time budget distribution with template statistics:
There you will see if your ideal week is well balanced. Remember that work is not everything in life. Reserve enough time for yourself and your family.
ADJUSTING YOUR SCHEDULE
Another great advantage in TimeTune is that you can make modifications to the ‘Schedule’ section without affecting the original template.
That allows you to adjust your schedule to reality and add comments to time blocks for future retrospection:
Furthermore, you will have statistics about your past schedule history, so you can see where the time really went:
REFINING YOUR IDEAL WEEK
Finding your ideal week may require some fine-tuning. Your first plan may not be perfect, but it’s a good start.
Don’t worry. Keep refining your ideal week progressively until you find your optimal distribution of time. The benefit is totally worth it.
In addition, as TimeTune allows you to create as many templates as you need, you can create different ‘ideal weeks’ for different seasons. Or you can keep older ‘ideal week’ templates for retrospection if you prefer it.
In any case, your ideal week will give you peace of mind while increasing your productivity at the same time πͺ
If you try it, let us know how that worked for you!
Cheers! π§‘

Hey, Time tune, I came across your app and loved the idea, I would like to suggest or request one thing to improve this app. I was not able to create premade blocks and add it to Templates. If I had this option I can easily replace any block of time with another block, like we suddenly replace things in our daily life. And if this feature exists please help me find it…and if not, please bring it asap.
Thank you
Hi, thanks for your suggestion. We don’t have this feature yet but we’ll evaluate the possibilities for the future.
Hey time tuners,
There is an issue in applying the template. When a template gets applied and then deleted from a specific day, it’s not possible to apply any template to that day anymore. Please give it a look. I applied a template to a day and then deleted all blocks, when I tried to apply another template to that day, even though that day was empty i could not do it.
Best,
Mohsen
Hi. In our tests, the problem happens if you try to apply the same template, but not a different one. In any case, we’ll look into that. Thanks.
Hi. Just started using Time tune but I can only seem to schedule 4 weeks of my schedule at a time which is super frustrating. Is it a premium feature or not a feature at all to go more than 4 weeks? Would be happy to pay for this but won’t buy premium if not and will have to move to another app sadly.
Hi! While the ‘Schedule’ section only shows 30 days in the future (even on Premium), you can use the ‘Calendar’ section to apply templates to any future date and you can create single blocks on any future date. In any case, the app is still evolving and that might change in the future.
Remember that we have a refund guarantee as well. You can upgrade to Premium with confidence and if you don’t like the paid version, we’ll give you a full refund. No questions asked.
Thanks for your understanding π
Hello,
I have Time Tune 4.1.1 Premium Version. Is there a way to duplicate a tag and or same amount of blocked time without having to click the plus sign and filling out a new block screen each time as time elapses. For example if doing the same 4 task/tags repetitively every 20 mins and each tag/task taking 5 mins each for a total of 4-6 hours within that day. Having the ability to click on the already created tag name/time block in the template section and copying to the next blocked time slot as the day goes on. (Hope what I described makes sense, lol!)
Thank you very much for your suggestion, Jessica π For the moment we don’t have this option but we’ll evaluate the possibilities for the future π In the meantime, one alternative that could work would be to create a template with all the blocks that you need. That way, you only need to create the template once and you can apply it every time you need it.
Thanks for the suggestion; I will give it a go, and thanks for the quick reply!
I don’t understand the template explanation. I am looking for an app that will allow me to schedule tasks/habits on specific days of the week. For example: work out Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Your app only allows daily, weekly, monthly. If I buy the premium with templates will thus solve my issue?
Hi! π First of all, you don’t need to buy the premium version to use templates or schedule tasks on specific days of the week, all this is free. Templates are just groups of blocks (i.e. tasks) that you can schedule all at once. But if you don’t need that, that’s OK.
To schedule a task on specific days of the week, you need to select the ‘weekly’ repetition. That option will allow you to select the days of the week. Try it and let us know how it goes π
