TimeTune 4.9 brings with it some new and exciting features ๐
Keep reading to see what’s new:
NEW OVERLAP INDICATION
Prior to version 4.9, the app showed a generic ‘Overlap’ block when two or more blocks overlapped in the schedule:
If you wanted to see the conflicting blocks, you needed to click on the overlap (and then resolve the conflict).
But those ‘Overlap’ blocks were confusing to many users. As they didn’t provide any information by themselves, it wasn’t clear what you needed to do to avoid them (the confusion was bigger if many overlaps appeared at the same time).
We originally added a ‘Show overlaps’ toggle to the top menu to alleviate the problem a bit. That option allowed you to alternate between a view with ‘Overlap’ blocks and a view without them (where all blocks appeared but you didn’t know if they overlapped).
Our analytics showed that the vast majority of users want to know about overlaps, leaving the ‘Show overlaps’ option enabled. But the feedback was clear: it would be better if the app showed the conflicting blocks directly instead of a confusing ‘Overlap’ block.
And that’s what we’ve done in TimeTune 4.9. The app now shows all blocks and uses a warning icon to mark the places where overlaps happen (you can still click on that icon to see the conflicting blocks in more detail):
Now that you can see all the blocks in your schedule whether they overlap or not, the ‘Show overlaps’ toggle is not necessary anymore. Therefore, we removed it ๐งน
NEW FOCUS MODE (PREMIUM)
Premium users can now enjoy a new ‘Focus mode’:
Focus mode allows you to concentrate on the current block and avoid distractions.
To that end, when you enter focus mode, the app:
- Only shows information about the current block.
- Automatically hides the status bar (you can make it appear again if you swipe from the top of the screen).
- Allows you to keep the screen on (Settings / Interface / Focus mode / Keep screen on).
- Allows you to automatically enable the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode (Settings / Interface / Focus mode / Enable ‘Do Not Disturb’)
You will find ‘Focus mode’ here: Schedule / Top menu / Focus mode.
As the app is still evolving, we’ll add more features to focus mode in future updates.
LONG-CLICK IN SCHEDULE
You can finally long-click on schedule blocks for contextual actions ๐ฅณ
With long-click actions, you can:
- Delete a block or group of blocks.
- Insert a gap between two blocks.
- Add a gap or group of gaps to the previous or next block.
- Create a block from a gap or group of gaps.
- Reorder your blocks with drag & drop.
These actions have been available in templates for a while, and many users requested us to bring them to their schedule. In fact, it was the old overlap visualization that was holding this possibility back. But with the new one, it’s now possible.
So editing your schedule is easier in TimeTune 4.9 ๐
โ Remember that this doesn’t include events from external calendars. If you want to modify those events, you should do it on the calendar app.
REAPPLYING TEMPLATES
In old versions, it was not possible to properly reapply a template after clearing a specific date in the template calendar. If you had made any modifications to your schedule on that date, the app always resurfaced those modifications after reapplying the template.
If you found yourself in that situation, you may know the only solutions were applying a duplicate of the template or clearing the whole calendar.
Starting TimeTune 4.9, that problem won’t happen anymore. Now you can clear a single date in the template calendar and apply the template from scratch ๐
POP-UP NOTIFICATION REDESIGN
In previous versions, pop-up notifications showed three buttons:
However, the purpose of those buttons was a bit confusing sometimes.
The first button linked to the ‘Silence notifications’ option, already available inside the schedule’s top menu. The second button just opened the app, but few people used it. In the end, most people just used the third button to close the pop-up.
Therefore, in the new version we simplified the design and put the ‘close’ button front and center, with an improved touch target:
PURCHASE OFFER EXPIRATION DATE
If you are using the free version of the app, you’ll see that the purchase screen now shows the limit date for the one-time purchase offer:
You have until May 31 to take advantage of that offer. After that date, TimeTune Premium will be a subscription service. We explained in a previous article why this change is necessary.
Tell anyone who might be interested! ๐ฃ
MINOR AND TECHNICAL CHANGES
As usual, the new version contains other minor and technical improvements:
- Solved a bug where some blocks were created with the wrong duration on the date before Daylight Saving Time.
- Changed the wording for some texts.
- Implemented vector drawables for most menu icons.
- The ad banner is now hidden in the purchase screen.
- Translation updates.
- Internal improvements.
We hope you like TimeTune 4.9. The new features certainly make the app easier to use.
But stay tuned, we keep working on new improvements! ๐
Just read about the latest 4.9 version and it sounds really promising, can’t wait to get my hands dirty and plan my days๐
Thank you very much TimeTune team!
Hi, have you considered adding the features where we can add subtasks checklist into the time blocks? It will be more convenient for me to also keep track of the things I need to do. Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion ๐ We’re evaluating different alternatives for that ๐
6 years ago, I sent you guys an email wondering when you were coming to iOS.
Any progress on that front?
Unfortunately, not yet ๐ฅ The revenue generated from the app hasn’t been enough to justify the investment in other platforms ๐ That being said, we recently changed the monetization model to subscriptions. Depending on the result of that change, we may consider new paths for the app. Sorry for the inconvenience ๐
PLEASE ADD CHECKLIST FOR COMPLEATION OF A TASK.
Thanks for your suggestion. We will evaluate the possibilities ๐
Dear team in near future can we expect this checkbox and sub task feature?
I hope you guys will release version 5.
