Hello TimeTuners! 👋
TimeTune 5.5 is here with new improvements!
In this release we’re liberating an important premium feature to everyone. We’re also adding some ‘special effects’ to the ‘done’ checkmark, and changing the design of some screens.
Let’s see the changes in detail:
MARKING BLOCKS AS COMPLETED IS NOW FREE!
Many users felt frustrated after seeing that the ‘Done’ checkmark was a Premium feature in TimeTune 😩
And rightly so.
Checking things off is free in most apps, and users couldn’t understand why it wasn’t free here.
The main reason was because we’re already giving other features for free which are paid in other apps, the most important being recurring patterns (most planners make you pay if you want to schedule things daily or with special repetition patterns).
But we understood the frustration and that’s why we’re making the feature free:
We also added a bit of confetti to the announcement to celebrate the occasion! 🎉
We hope you enjoy the new free feature! 😀
CHECKMARK EFFECTS
When you mark a block as completed in TimeTune 5.5, the app will also play an uplifting sound and a short vibration 🔉
The goal with these completion effects is to reward you for your work and increase your dopamine, so you feel motivated to complete even more tasks.
But if you don’t need these effects, you can disable them in the interface settings:
👉 Per Android requirements, sonification sounds (i.e. sounds played as a result of a user’s action) are played through the ring volume. If your device is on vibration or silent mode, you won’t hear the sound.
NEW PURCHASE SCREEN
We’ve been neglecting this screen for a long time now. The design has been almost the same since the beginning of the app, years ago 🦖
But the problem wasn’t just the esthetics of the screen. If an app has a suboptimal purchase screen it will underperform in the sales department and hurt the project in the long run.
That’s why we completely revamped the screen, implementing the most up-to-date best practices:
Designing a purchase screen is an art in itself. It involves a lot of psychology and every element -big or small- counts: title, subtitle, buttons, order of elements, default option, descriptions, text length, social proof, etc.
In the end, the only way to have a healthy project is to have a healthy business. The new purchase screen will help us stay in the right path.
SIMPLIFYING THE ONBOARDING PROCESS
Through the years, we’ve tried several approaches for the onboarding process in TimeTune, following the evolution of the app itself 🐣
The last iteration was inspired by the onboarding screens that Duolingo uses in their app.
…With one big difference 😅
Duolingo uses their onboarding process to tailor the experience for the user and help them choose what they need from the app.
Our onboarding process is just a collection of (too many) descriptive screens. Seven screens of text after text that just feels too long 🫠
We knew that our onboarding process wasn’t perfect. But we weren’t truly aware of how painful it was until we looked at it again with fresh eyes.
That’s why TimeTune 5.5 strips three of those screens from the process, leaving the total amount of steps at four ✂️
However, this is just a temporary measure. We need to rebuild our onboarding process from the ground up in order to surface the value of the app much better to new users.
👉 You can see the current state of the onboarding process here: Top menu / Help / Reset welcome screens.
OPTIMIZED FOR ANDROID 17
Android 17 is already here, and we took the opportunity to optimize the app to the new Android version.
Every time Google publishes a new Android version, it’s a bit scary for developers 😱 Things might break in unexpected ways if we are not careful.
Now the work is already done and everything works as intended. But if you experience any strange behaviors, let us know!
OTHER CHANGES
As always, the new version includes other minor changes:
- The “Hide the ‘done’ checkmark” setting has been migrated to “Show the ‘done’ checkmark”.
- New design for the “Unlock all features” button in settings screen.
- New design for the support tasks in settings screen.
- Library updates.
- Internal improvements.
Stay tuned for more updates! 😀

It’s an excellent app!! 🥳 I wish it allowed for a wider variety of colors, preferably with their RGB codes. It would also be great to be able to schedule two processes to run simultaneously, like boiling water while washing dishes. Aside from that, it’s a fantastic app and I highly recommend it! 💃
Thank you very much for your suggestions! 😀
